3-Day Tsingy de Bemaraha Experience from Morondava

3-Day Tsingy de Bemaraha Experience from Morondava

Overview

The journey to Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is as much a part of the adventure as the destination itself. Located deep in western Madagascar, the park is one of the most remote and spectacular landscapes on the island. Reaching it requires crossing rivers by ferry, traversing dusty tracks and passing through isolated villages where life has changed little over generations.

From Morondava, expect approximately 10 hours of travel each way, making this one of Madagascar’s great overland expeditions. The reward is the opportunity to discover the extraordinary limestone pinnacles of the Tsingy de Bemaraha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often considered one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders.

This three-day experience is ideal for travelers seeking adventure, spectacular scenery and one of Madagascar’s most iconic destinations.

Day 1 – Morondava to Bekopaka

Departure takes place early in the morning from Morondava.

The journey heads north through the dry landscapes of western Madagascar. Along the way, the adventure includes crossing the mighty Tsiribihina River by ferry before continuing through remote savanna landscapes, baobab-dotted countryside and small villages.

Further north, a second ferry crossing over the Manambolo River marks the final approach to Bekopaka, gateway to the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park.

Arrival is usually in the late afternoon, leaving time to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the region.

Depending on timing and fitness levels, additional sections of the park may be explored with your local guide.

The park also shelters several species of lemurs, endemic birds, reptiles and unique dry forest vegetation adapted to this harsh limestone environment.

Day 3 – Bekopaka to Morondava via the Avenue of the Baobabs
