The Manambolo River and the Tsigy de Bemaraha
This 12‑day voyage immerses you in the wild heart of Madagascar, travelling by road, on foot and down the Tsiribihina River. The journey starts in Antananarivo, crosses the Central Highlands and heads west to the volcanic cones and crater lakes of Itasy. Continue off the beaten track into the semi‑arid Bongolava massif, known for its zebu markets and traditional Sakalava culture, before a two‑day dugout canoe descent down the remote Manambolo River. The river journey reveals dramatic limestone gorges, ancient Vazimba tombs and pristine wilderness. The trip wraps up with a full day exploring the Tsingy de Bemaraha (UNESCO), followed by sunset at the Avenue of the Baobabs near Morondava.
