Day 2 – Antananarivo → Morondava → Kirindy – 90 km, approx. 3 hours' drive + 1 hour flight

Morning transfer to Ivato Airport for your domestic flight to Morondava, the relaxed coastal gateway to western Madagascar. Upon arrival, enjoy a brief visit to Morondava's beach and vibrant market before venturing into the picturesque countryside of the Menabe region, renowned for its majestic baobabs. Make a short stop at the iconic Avenue of the Baobabs (you will return for sunset on Day 5) before continuing to the dry deciduous forest of Kirindy Reserve. This threatened ecosystem is home to the famous giant jumping rat, seven lemur species (four nocturnal), and various endemic reptiles. As night falls, embark on a guided 1-hour night walk to spot nocturnal lemurs, camouflaged chameleons, and other creatures of the night. Overnight at Relais de Kirindy or similar.

Day 3 – Kirindy → Bekopaka – 190 km, approx. 7 hours' drive

After an early breakfast, enjoy a final morning walk in Kirindy Reserve to observe diurnal wildlife, including Decken's sifakas and rare birds. Begin your adventurous drive north along Route Nationale 8, crossing the Tsiribihina River by barge (45-minute crossing) before reaching Belo-sur-Tsiribihina. Take a short break in this riverside town before continuing north to the shores of the Manambolo River. A second, quicker barge crossing (10 minutes) brings you to Bekopaka, the gateway settlement to the extraordinary Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. Overnight at Olympe de Bemaraha Lodge or similar.

Day 4 – Bekopaka: Grand Tsingy Exploration

Dedicate this full day to exploring the legendary Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Madagascar's most spectacular natural wonders. Traverse the Grand Tsingy, a surreal limestone labyrinth of razor-sharp pinnacles, deep canyons, natural bridges, and suspended walkways. This "forest of sharp stones" shelters endemic lemurs like Decken's sifaka, rare birds, and specialized flora. The visit typically takes 5–6 hours; wear sturdy shoes and long pants to protect against cuts from the sharp limestone. Return to your lodge by mid-afternoon. Overnight at Olympe de Bemaraha Lodge.

Day 5 – Bekopaka → Morondava – 250 km, approx. 10 hours' drive

Depart Bekopaka early (7 AM) for the long return journey to Morondava. En route, stop at Belo-sur-Tsiribihina and the charming Baobabs des Amoureux ("Baobabs of the Lovers"). Time your arrival at the iconic Avenue of the Baobabs for sunset—the most magical moment to photograph these ancient Grandidier's baobabs silhouetted against a glowing orange sky. Continue to Morondava for the evening. Overnight at Laguna Beach Hotel or Kimony Resort.

Day 6 – Morondava → Antananarivo → Andasibe

Morning transfer to Morondava Airport for your domestic flight back to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, begin the scenic 4-hour drive east to Andasibe, the gateway to Madagascar's most accessible rainforest corridor. After breakfast, stop at the renowned Peyrieras Reptile Reserve, a sanctuary showcasing an incredible diversity of endemic chameleons, vibrant butterflies, leaf-tailed geckos, and exotic insects. Continue to Andasibe for lunch, then visit the community-managed Mitsinjo Reserve, a conservation success story where local guides have restored degraded land through reforestation of endemic trees and plants. After dark, embark on a guided night walk along the perimeter of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park to spot nocturnal lemurs like the elusive woolly lemur, sleeping chameleons, and rare night-active insects. Overnight in Andasibe.

Day 8 – Andasibe → Palmarium – 140 km, approx. 3 hours' drive + boat transfer

Start your morning with an immersive guided trek through Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, a true paradise for nature lovers. This rich rainforest ecosystem shelters 14 species of lemurs, 51 species of reptiles, and 84 species of amphibians. You may encounter up to 5 lemur species, including the iconic indri—the largest living lemur, whose haunting calls echo through the misty forest—as well as the striking black-and-white ruffed lemur and the elegant diademed sifaka. By 11 AM, depart for the shores of the historic Pangalanes Canal, a 400-mile network of waterways connecting Foulpointe to Farafangana. Board a motorized boat for a scenic ride across Lake Ampitabe from Manambato, gliding past fishing villages and lush wetlands. Arrive at the forest station near Palmarium, a small sanctuary home to frogs, snakes, tortoises, and free-roaming lemurs. Overnight at Hotel Palmarium or similar.

Day 9 – Palmarium

Watch fishermen return from the ocean with their daily catch and enjoy a relaxed lunch by the beach. After sunset, take a short 10-minute boat ride to Cock Island (Île aux Aye-Aye), a small protected islet where you can observe the elusive aye-aye, the world's largest nocturnal lemur, in its natural habitat. Overnight at Hotel Palmarium.

Day 10 – Palmarium → Andasibe – approx. 3 hours' drive + boat transfer

Depart Palmarium after breakfast and retrace your route along the Pangalanes Canal by boat to Manambato. Drive back to Andasibe for an afternoon at leisure. Optional visit to local craft workshops or relax at the lodge. Overnight at Sahatandra River Lodge or similar.

Day 11 – Maromizaha Reserve → Antananarivo – approx. 4 hours' drive

In the morning, visit Maromizaha Reserve, a community-managed rainforest sanctuary nestled in the hills near Andasibe. This pristine reserve protects a vital corridor of primary forest and offers exceptional wildlife viewing with fewer visitors than larger parks. Guided trails lead you through moss-draped trees, bamboo thickets, and fern-covered slopes in search of indri, brown lemurs, eastern woolly lemurs, and a remarkable diversity of endemic birds, chameleons, and orchids. After the hike, begin the scenic return journey to Antananarivo, winding through rolling highlands, terraced rice fields, and traditional villages. Arrive in the capital in the late afternoon. Overnight at Chato Park Hotel, near the airport, or similar.
