What works well

  • RN7 Route: Ranomafana and Isalo are spectacularly green, perfect for photography and enjoying roaring waterfalls.
  • Highlands: Antsirabe and Ambositra are pleasant, with cool air and vibrant green terraced hills.
  • Southwest Beaches: Ifaty and Salary begin to see more reliable sunshine and calm seas.

What can be difficult

  • West Coast: Roads to Morondava can still be muddy and slow, requiring patience and a sturdy 4x4.
  • East Coast: May still experience heavy, albeit less frequent, tropical showers.

Usually not recommended

  • Tsingy de Bemaraha: Usually remains closed until late March or April due to lingering mud and safety concerns.
  • Remote West: Deep western circuits remain risky and slow.
