Itinerary

Day 1 – Antananarivo

Meet and assistance at Ivato International Airport. After arrival formalities, transfer to your hotel in Antananarivo, Madagascar's vibrant highland capital. Overnight at Havana Resort or similar.

Day 2 – Antananarivo → Andasibe | 140 km – approx. 4 hrs

Depart east toward Andasibe, gateway to Madagascar's most accessible rainforest corridor. En route, stop at the renowned Peyrieras Private Reserve, a sanctuary showcasing endemic chameleons, vibrant butterflies, leaf-tailed geckos, and exotic frogs in naturalistic enclosures. Continue to Andasibe for lunch, then visit the community-led Mitsinjo Reserve, a conservation success story where local guides have restored degraded land through reforestation of endemic trees. After dark, embark on a guided night walk near Andasibe-Mantadia National Park to spot elusive woolly lemurs, sleeping chameleons, and rare nocturnal insects. Day 3 – Andasibe

Immerse yourself in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, a rainforest paradise sheltering 14 lemur species, 51 reptiles, and 84 amphibians. Guided trails reveal the iconic Indri Indri—the largest living lemur, whose haunting calls echo through the misty canopy—alongside striking black-and-white ruffed lemurs and elegant diademed sifakas. Keep watch for brilliantly colored chameleons camouflaged among ferns and orchids. In the afternoon, visit the private Vakona Reserve and its famous "Lemur Island," where habituated black-and-white ruffed lemurs roam freely and may even perch on your shoulder. Day 4 – Andasibe → Palmarium | approx. 3 hrs + boat

Drive toward Brickaville, then follow scenic tracks to Manambato along the historic Pangalanes Canal, a 400-mile network of waterways linking Madagascar's east coast. Board a motorized boat for a peaceful crossing of Lake Ampitabe to Palmarium, a unique forest sanctuary on a peninsula surrounded by water. Settle in and enjoy the tranquil setting. After sunset, take a guided night walk to observe nocturnal wildlife, including mouse lemurs and camouflaged reptiles. Overnight at Palmarium Hotel or similar.

Day 5 – Palmarium

Morning guided tour of Palmarium Reserve, where you can observe up to nine lemur species at close range—including habituated black-and-white ruffed lemurs that may approach within arm's length. Later, stroll along the lake shore to the coastal village of Andranokoditra, where friendly locals welcome visitors and fishermen return with their daily catch. Enjoy a relaxed beachside lunch. After sunset, take a short boat ride to Aye-Aye Island (Île aux Aye-Aye), a protected islet where you can observe the elusive aye-aye, the world's largest nocturnal lemur, in its natural habitat—a rare and unforgettable encounter. Day 6 – Palmarium → Manambato → Tamatave | boat + 2 hrs drive

Boat transfer back to Manambato, then drive to Tamatave (Toamasina), Madagascar's bustling eastern port city. Afternoon city tour: palm-lined avenues, the lively seafront, vibrant local markets, and historic colonial districts. Sample fresh seafood and soak in the coastal atmosphere. Overnight at Hotel Marina Beach or similar.

Day 7 – Toamasina

Boat excursion to Plum Island (Île aux Prunes), a serene coastal retreat. Walk to the historic lighthouse for panoramic ocean views, observe colonies of fruit bats in the mangroves, and enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach. Snorkel in clear waters teeming with tropical fish, or simply relax by the shore. Between July and September, keep watch for migrating humpback whales offshore. Days 8–10 – Toamasina → Mahambo → Sainte-Marie

Early departure to Mahambo, followed by a scenic ferry crossing to Sainte-Marie (Île Sainte-Marie), a tropical island paradise off Madagascar's northeast coast (approx. 3 hrs total). Enjoy three nights on this laid-back island, known for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and rich pirate history. Optional activities: island tour by tuk-tuk, whale watching (seasonal), diving, snorkeling coral reefs, relaxing on northeast beaches. Overnight at Maningory Hotel in Ile aux Nattes or similar.

Day 11 – Sainte-Marie → Antananarivo

Transfer to Sainte-Marie Airport for your domestic flight to Antananarivo (flight not included). Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel near the airport. Enjoy a relaxed final evening in the capital, with time for last-minute souvenir shopping or reflection on your Malagasy adventure. Overnight at Chat'o Park Hotel or similar.

Day 12 – Antananarivo → International Departure

Morning transfer to Ivato International Airport in time for your international departure flight. End of our dedicated tour services.
